Man – this was incredible to read. I see the vision. The broken system and the sentiments highlighted above are unfortunately very true and are only rising, every passing day. It is becoming increasingly difficult for a foreign graduate to make it and build in America. What balaji and the network state are doing is truly incredible, i hope i get to join someday.
Just a few years ago I knew this would happen. I already have my flights booked for TNS but too this feel like I was meant to be there right at the start of something huge. My dream of being the first Network-State founders seems more and more within reach 💥
Thank you Balaji for doing this, and for having the community builder category. I applied and of course I will be thrilled if I make the first round, but realistically just hope to know for sure you read my app and have a brief dialogue about the philosophy/community I'm part of. Is there any way to verify that you've looked at it and understand where I'm coming from?
This is fantastic news - thank you for launching the Network School Fellowship! Our citizens at Shegby are looking forward to submitting their applications.
We'll also be happy to help spread the word on all of our social platforms - Telegram channels focused on Network States, Discord communities, Peerlist, Product Hunt, Binance Square and more. This is an important step in strengthening the Network States ecosystem, and we're happy to contribute!
I'm also thrilled to see Shegby listed on The Incognita Initiative, although I haven't had a chance to dive into it yet - I look forward to exploring it soon. BTW, who is the creator of The Incognita?
Love this! I’m Harrison, an ex fine dining industry line cook. My stack "The Secret Ingredient" adapts hit restaurant recipes (mostly NYC and L.A.) for easy home cooking.
I just applied to the Network School Fellowship and I am genuinely excited about it.
It offers $100k in funding for founders and creators from anywhere in the world, plus a year on the Network School campus near Singapore if you are accepted. I found it through Balaji’s write-up on balajis.com, and it felt like it was written for people who build on the internet, not for people who collect credentials.
I’ve spent the last couple of years working hard on my own project, and I’ve learned a frustrating lesson. Talent is everywhere, but access to capital and the right community is still weirdly concentrated. A lot of the usual funding paths come with invisible rules about geography, pedigree, and who you already know.
This fellowship seems to flip that. They look at potential or proof of work, and the process is straightforward. You apply online, then there’s a structured video interview, and then an in-person exam on campus to confirm skills. If it’s a fit, you relocate for a year and focus on building alongside other serious builders.
What pulled me in was the simplicity. A place where the basics are handled, like housing, food, workspace, and the day to day logistics, so you can spend your energy where it belongs. On the work.
While I was applying, I kept thinking about people who pushed past the limits of their starting point. Steve Jobs with his relentless focus on building. Malala pushing for opportunity no matter where you are born. Martin Luther King Jr. fighting for fairness and dignity. Indira Gandhi aiming for self-reliance and big national ambition. Different worlds, same reminder. Your origin does not have to be your ceiling.
Anyway, application submitted. If you’re a technical founder, an AI-first creator, or someone building real world communities, it’s worth reading.
Wow, this sounds like a game-changer for hustlers worldwide! Love the global vibe and the no-BS approach. Just curious—what’s the biggest ‘must-have’ trait you’re looking for in applicants?

what a time to be alive 🌱

This is totally what I think is needed to end the hegemony the past, and pave way into the future.

Really, really cool. Sounds like YC in its early days (but much better)

Time to build!

Can anyone tell me in advance what the exam in the initial application is like?
If we’re 2 co-founders, do we both need to apply?

A lot of similar points idea-wise to the Bitnation(s) project that did not exactly pan out.
An amazing and largely overdue vision for the future.
